Bush namings

From The Chronicle of Higher Education: Debate Over Naming a U. of Florida College for Jeb Bush
By JOSH KELLER
BUSH BATTLE: In a continuing battle over how much the University of Florida should honor former Gov. Jeb Bush, the State House of Representatives' education panel has passed a measure to rename a college at the university the Jeb Bush College of Education. Last month the university's Faculty Senate voted down a proposal to give Mr. Bush an honorary degree, saying he had not given enough financial support to higher education and faulting him for playing a key role in ending race-conscious admissions at the state's public universities. A few days later, the board of the university's alumni association went in the opposite direction, citing Mr. Bush's support for research and a new scholarship program in making him an honorary alumnus. The current proposal to rename the College of Education now goes to the full House for consideration.

Meanwhile, officials in Washington are considering whether to permanently christen the President's Cabinet, "The Bush League."
